Tractive falls in the cell phoned based category for pet trackers. That means you can set up an invisible geofence and you will receive an alert on your cell phone when your dog leaves the “safe area” that you have designated. Using the free app available for Android and iPhone, you will then see the current location of your dog on a map. The Tractive is a stand alone device that is not built into a dog collar but rather attached to your dog’s existing collar, so it is portable and is easily transferred from one object to another. For that reason, just like the PocketFinder and Zoombak, you can also use it to track your children, your car, or any other property that moves outdoors.
The Tractive pet tracker does have a few unique features. First off, in addition to working in the US, it also works in Canada and many other countries world wide. The device also contains a light and sound capability which can be turned on remotely from your cell phone, making it easier to find your lost dog. One of the drawbacks to the Tractive pet tracker is it’s short battery life of only 2-5 days.
The tracking device is waterproof and swim proof, works with Android or iOS devices and internet browsers, and comes with colar clips, an A/C adapter, A USB cable, and a manual. The device measures 2″ x 1.6″ x 0.6″, weighs 1.2 ounces, and is recommended for pets weighing over 9 pounds.
